Passing through Varkala? Staying a week, or a month, and missing your mat? You do not need to sign up for a whole course to practise with us. Pick a class, pick a day and come as you are.
Our drop-in classes are taught by the same teachers who lead our teacher trainings, in the same open-air shala, with the same care. It is simply the easiest way to practise properly while you are on the coast.
Four classes, four moods
Every class is open to all levels. Teachers offer easier and stronger options, so a first timer and a seasoned practitioner can share the room happily.
Hatha Yoga
The classical, unhurried practice of our Rishikesh lineage. Postures are held long enough to really feel them, with clear alignment cues and the breath leading every movement. The best place to start, and a lovely way to begin a Varkala morning.
Ashtanga Vinyasa
A flowing, breath-linked sequence that builds heat, strength and focus. Expect sun salutations, standing postures and a steady rhythm, with hands-on adjustments if you would like them. Come for the sweat, stay for the stillness at the end.

Pranayama
A quieter hour spent with the breath. You learn techniques such as alternate nostril breathing and gentle breath retention step by step, then sit with their effects. Many students find this is the class that changes the rest of their practice.

Bhakti Yoga
The yoga of devotion, in its most joyful form. We sing simple mantras together with harmonium and drums, then settle into meditation. No singing voice required, only a willingness to join in.

Good to know
- Level: all levels, and beginners are very welcome.
- Coming with friends? Tell us how many of you there are and we will keep space for you.
- What to bring: comfortable clothes, a water bottle and your own mat if you have a favourite one.
- Before class: leave two to three hours after a big meal, and tell your teacher about any injury.
- Staying longer? Ask about a week of classes, or have a look at our Yoga Retreat in Varkala.
One class is enough to feel the difference between practising on holiday and practising with a teacher who knows you are in the room.

Questions, answered
01 Do I need to book in advance?
Booking a day ahead is best, so we can save your spot and confirm the time. For the same day, message us on WhatsApp and we will tell you if there is space.
02 I have never done yoga. Which class should I take?
Start with Hatha Yoga. It is steady and clearly explained, and the teacher will show you easier options whenever you need them. Pranayama is also a gentle first class.
03 Can I come to more than one class?
Of course. Many visitors take a morning and an evening class, or come back several days in a row. Mention it in your enquiry and we will plan the days with you.
04 How much does a drop-in class cost?
We share the class fee when you enquire, together with any options for several classes. A real person replies on WhatsApp or email.
05 Where is the shala?
Our shala is in Varkala, Kerala. We send exact directions with your booking confirmation.
06 Can I join if I am pregnant or have an injury?
Please tell us before you book. Hatha and Pranayama can often be adapted, and your teacher will guide you, but do check with your doctor first.
